This paper inquires in a central question in the Jean-Luc Nancy’s work, that is, the end of the West and his inmediate concequence: the return schema. The evaluation that Nancy realize is associated to his affirmation about this question is that the West has finished product planetary extension of its foundational philosophical slogans. The main argument is that one of the most conspicuous causes of that finishing is the global structure, regulated by the exclusive pattern of the One, in any (...) case, neutralizer considered singular beings. It is argued that the main output to said planetary nancyana neutralization is the concept of a community of singular beings under the being-in-common that cover deploys unique and unrepeatable sense networks. Carlos Amador reads a series of examples from the last dictatorship and the current post-dictatorship period in the Southern Cone, including works by Augusto Roa Bastos, Roberto Bolaño, Ceferino Reato, Horacio Verbitsky, Nelly Richard, Diamela Eltit, and Willy Thayer, with the goal of uncovering the logic behind their conceptions of belonging and rejection. Desde 1753, en que fue creado por el insigne marino Jorge Juany Santacilia, el Real Instituto y Observatorio de la Armada (ROA) ha sido el núcleo de la investigación científica de la Armada, manteniendo hoy día un reconocido prestigio tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. El autor de este artículo, director del ROA, a través de una síntesis descriptiva de la estructura orgánica del centro en cuatro Secciones (Efemérides, Astronomía, Geofísica, y Hora), nos introduce en la evolución histórica de esta (...) institución y en la amplia gama de actividades que desarrolla en la actualidad, participando en numerosos proyectos y foros internacionales, y manteniendo relaciones de colaboración permanente con organismos científicos similares de diversos países. Sus publicaciones de efemérides astronómicas, sus trabajos en geomagnetismo, sismología, seguimiento de satélites, astrofísica, metrología, etc. etc., así como el hecho de ser el depositario del Patrón Nacional de la unidad de tiempo, son el exponente de que el ROA continúa siendo un centro científico en plena actividad y pujanza, y en no pocas ocasiones la voz de España en el concierto internacional de estas ramas del conocimiento y de la investigación. Finaliza el artículo con una breve referencia a la Escuela de Estudios Superiores, vinculada al ROA desde su creación y que continúa con sus cursos de «estudios mayores» manteniendo vivo el espíritu científico de la Armada, mediante la formación de un selecto núcleo de oficiales en las áreas de ciencias Físico-Matemáticas, Astronomía y Geofísica, y en la preparación para los cursos de Ingeniería. Carlos Fuentes, en una obra de 1969 titulada La nueva novela hispanoamericana, anticipael trabajo de Ángel Rama sobre el dictador como arquetipo latinoamericano, el deIrlemar Chiampi sobre el realismo maravilloso y las novelas de Carpentier, Roa Bastosy García Márquez. En el primer capítulo de esta obra, Fuentes enuncia dos arquetipospropiamente hispanoamericanos: el primero es el de la “naturaleza devoradora”, quese encuentra en los orígenes mismos del sujeto híbrido hispano-americano y en el desarrollode un sincretismo histórico. Este mismo legado cultural (...) da cuenta del surgimientodel segundo arquetipo: “el dictador a escala nacional o regional”, puesto que losefectos colaterales de la independencia superpusieron a la antigua dominación un nuevodespotismo que en la mayoría de casos fue ejercido por militares o por oligarquíasnativas. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the notions of mediational fields and dynamic situated senses as a way to identify the structure of experiences, thoughts and their relations. To reach this purpose I draw some lessons from the debate between Dreyfus and McDowell about the structure of experience, from Cussins’s conception of mediational contents, and from Evans’s account of singular senses. I notice firstly that McDowell’s answer to Dreyfus consists in developing a practical and demonstrative notion of the (...) products of our conceptual capacities. A conception that entails that human experience is not entirely characterised in terms of an abstract specification of truth-conditions. McDowell and Cussins endorse Evans’s conception of singular senses. A specification that takes into account the dynamic and situated abilities involved in making reference. Whereas the first argues in favour of a conceptual conception of experience, the second one argues in favour of a nonconceptual conception. I introduce the notions of mediational fields and dynamic situated senses to argue that both converge in conceiving the contents of experience as mediational and not reducible to an abstract specification of truth-conditions. My proposal is to define a bidimensional space orthogonal to the conceptual/ nonconceptual, experience/thought, know-how/know-that dichotomies. Cognitive contents are ways to disclose the world both as mediational fields and as referential structures. The degree in which those elements are presented determine different varieties of cognition. I use the previous notions to develop the sketch of an account of singular, objective and contextual ways of cognition, and to argue that it is better to begin an enquiry about cognition with notions that do not presuppose a distinction between practical and intellectual capacities. In 1836, at 19 years of age, Colombian philosopher José Eusebio Caro wrote a sociological and anthropological treatise titled Mecánica social that illustrates in context the reception of French philosophy in 19th-century Colombian philosophical thought. Many writers interested in Kelsen's concept of validity state that it is primarily related to such issues as the identity of a legal system, the membership of particular norms in a legal system, its internal consistency, and so on. The result is that for many, Kelsen's concept of validity bears no affinity to the idea of validity prevailing in traditional legal philosophy. This chapter argues that this reading of Kelsen's concept of validity is mistaken. Proponents of this reading have been (...) led to disregard important aspects of Kelsen's theory, formulating unwarranted and tortuous interpretations of it in order to show how it deals with issues that are erroneously supposed to be primarily connected to its concept of validity. It is shown that Kelsen's theory, like traditional philosophical accounts of law, equates the validity of law with its binding force and its existence, and that it conceives of the ascription of validity as a normative judgement.
